Ailee and Choi Si-hun dated unconventionally, living together for a year before their fairytale Gangnam wedding.
Four months into marriage, Ailee humorously discovered her husband’s ex’s birthday card, while he caught her shredding old photos of an ex.
Amid newlywed life, Ailee dropped "(Me)moir," a hip-hop R&B mini-album entirely in English, proving she’s still a powerhouse artist.

Singer Ailee and actor Choi Si-hun officially tied the knot in a grand wedding ceremony held on April 20, 2025, at The RAUM in Gangnam, Seoul. The star-studded event was attended by numerous celebrities, marking the culmination of their love story, one that began with a year of cohabitation before marriage. Interestingly, the couple had already legally registered their union on August 21, 2024, but chose to hold their lavish celebration months later.

The wedding was nothing short of spectacular, with Ailee dazzling in multiple gowns throughout the event. From a romantic garden-themed ceremony to a glamorous evening reception, the couple spared no expense. Ailee even serenaded her new husband with a heartfelt performance of Beyoncé’s Love on Top, adding a personal touch to the festivities. The celebration continued into the night with an after-party at Choi Si-hun’s restaurant, sealing their joyous beginning as husband and wife.

However, behind the fairytale romance, Ailee recently revealed on Shoes Off and Single for Men that their journey wasn’t without doubts.

"When my family in the U.S. expressed their intention to marry, they said, 'Let’s live together first,' she shared.

The couple took that advice seriously, cohabiting for a year before making their relationship official. Fortunately, their compatibility during that trial period solidified their decision to marry.

"I was thinking of getting to know each other through living together and even canceling the wedding if things didn’t work out,” Ailee admitted.

Unexpected Discoveries and Lighthearted Jabs About Divorce

Marriage, however, hasn’t been without its humorous and awkward moments. Just four months into their union, Ailee stumbled upon a surprising relic from her husband’s past. While cleaning his car, she found a birthday card in the console compartment, addressed to him by an ex-girlfriend.

"Happy Birthday, Jjagi," the card read, sending the studio into laughter as Ailee recounted the story.

She took it in stride, joking about the situation, but the moment wasn’t one-sided. Ailee also confessed that her husband once caught her shredding old photos of an ex-boyfriend, leading to another round of amused embarrassment.

The topic of divorce even came up lightheartedly during her appearance on the show. Comedian Lee Sang-min teased, "If you ever get divorced, you’ll release some amazing songs," referencing Ailee’s hit breakup anthem "I’ll Show You."

Ailee laughed along, proving she doesn’t take herself too seriously. Tak Jae-hoon added to the humor by calling her a "mysterious woman" for marrying so suddenly after being known as a fiercely independent artist.

Despite the jokes, Ailee radiated happiness when asked about married life. "Yes, I am [happy]," she replied with a bright smile.

She also shared that her husband was the one who pursued her first, having fallen in love at her concert and even offering his bar for her after-party. "

"We met with the intention of marriage, and within three months, we were looking for a wedding hall," she revealed.

What makes Ailee and Choi Si-hun’s relationship unique is how it defied her own expectations. She once described her ideal type as someone like Kim Jong-kook or Choo Sung-hoon, rugged, athletic figures, yet ended up marrying someone completely different. Their whirlwind romance, practical approach to cohabitation, and ability to laugh through awkward moments showcase a modern, grounded love story.

From a year of living together to a fairytale wedding and even the occasional ex-related blunder, Ailee and Choi Si-hun’s marriage is anything but conventional. Yet, it’s their authenticity and willingness to embrace both the romantic and the ridiculous that make their bond so relatable, and so enduring.

Amidst the joys of newlywed life, Ailee also made a powerful return to music with her mini-album "(Me)moir", proving that marriage hasn’t slowed down her artistic ambitions. The album, produced by Pdogg of BTS fame, marks a bold new direction for Ailee, blending hip-hop R&B with her signature powerhouse vocals. The title track "MMI", with its Miami-inspired beats and witty self-reflective lyrics, highlights her playful yet confident energy. Meanwhile, tracks like the Jersey club-infused "Illusion" and the soulful ballad "Meaning" showcase her versatility as an artist.
